What is a Concealed Bulletproof Vest?

A Concealed Bulletproof Vest is a type of personal body armor that allows concealment. This is often the preferred option not only for policemen, security enforcers but also civilian and personal bodyguards of high ranking people. The main goal of a Concealed Bulletproof Vest is to absorb and disperse the impact of fired projectiles such as bullets from small handguns. This is worn on the torso and can be used over or under ordinary clothes. A Concealed Bulletproof Vest can also resist stab attacks and can protect you from fragments of bomb explosions. There are bulletproof vests that can resist both stab attacks and fired bullets.

A Concealed Bulletproof Vest is sometimes called a Soft Vest because it is made of many layers of densely woven high resistant fibers that are sewn and stitched based on certain specifications and standards. These fibers are the leading materials for body armors today that have high resistant properties from heat, water, cuts and other chemicals. Moreover, these fibers are considerably thinner and lighter thus allowing comfort, mobility and flexibility. Examples of these fibers are Kevlar, Spectra, Dyneema and Twaron.

The primary benefit of a Concealed Bulletproof Vest is concealment. Since its material is thin and light, it has the ability to be hidden. A Concealed Bulletproof Vest can easily be concealed under ordinary clothes. You can best conceal it by using a jacket or thick shirts. Color of the Bulletproof Vest can sometimes add to conceal ability. Choose white for daytime use and black colored vest for night. Factors that can also add to conceal ability are your body type and size and proper fitting of the Concealed Bulletproof Vest.

A Concealed Bulletproof Vest must also pass various testing and certifications before it can be used. For example, a bulletproof vest manufactured by one company should pass the standards set by the National Institute of Justice (NIJ). NIJ is an organization that sets protection standards for bulletproof vests and other body armors. A Concealed Bulletproof Vest only has Type II and Type IIA protection levels.
